For pupils

Your address ends in @students.tgii.example. It is not an email address — nothing is ever sent to it — it is just what you type to sign in. Your parent sets your first password and can reset it if you forget.

Your home page lists every course you are enrolled in. Open one to see its topics, and open a topic to read the lesson notes, watch the video if there is one, and download anything the teacher has attached.

Every lesson has written notes, not only video. That is deliberate: notes work on a slow connection and can be saved for later.

Mark as complete at the bottom of a lesson moves your progress bar. Press it again to undo. If the school cannot save it — because your place on that course has ended, for example — the page says so in red rather than showing a tick it cannot keep. Press it again when the problem is sorted; doing so twice does no harm.

Timetable shows what is coming. The join button appears ten minutes before the start — before that there is nothing to click, which is normal.

Your teacher opens the lesson. If you arrive first you may wait a moment for them.

Your timetable always shows the truth. A moved lesson appears at its new time; a cancelled one is marked Cancelled rather than quietly disappearing, so you can tell “not happening” from “I mis-remembered”.

You will not be emailed about it — your address is not a mailbox — but your parent is, so check the timetable in the morning and they will know too.

Announcements carries notices from the school, either to everyone or to your year group. Important ones are highlighted, and pinned ones stay at the top.

Work your teacher has set appears in the course. A quiz is marked straight away; written work is marked by your teacher and appears under Grades when they have finished.

You cannot see the answers before you submit, and you cannot change an answer afterwards.

Some work can be attempted more than once. The page says how many attempts you have used and how many are left — for example 1 of 3 attempts used · 2 attempts remaining — and lists every attempt you have made with its mark. When there is no button, the page says why: no attempts left, the due date has passed, or you are no longer on that course.

Which attempt counts. For a quiz it is your best marked attempt, so trying again can only help you. For written work your teacher marks, it is your most recent marked submission, because that is the work they looked at. The one that counts is labelled on the page, and the others stay there so you can see how you improved.

Nothing is lost. Come back to the assessment and it shows Finish your submission with the files that did upload listed by name. Press Hand in my work to send what is there, or add the missing pages first and hand it all in together.

This is the same attempt, not a new one — recovering from a dropped connection never uses up one of your tries, and a file that uploaded twice is only stored once.

Past papers holds exam papers for your level. Marking schemes appear alongside the paper where the school has them.

Tutoring lists one-to-one times your teachers have opened in the subjects you are enrolled for. Book one and it appears in your timetable alongside your classes, marked One-to-one, with a Join link when it is time. You are reminded the evening before and an hour before, as with any lesson. If a tutor has to cancel, you will be told.

Changed your mind? Press Cancel booking and the time goes back on the board for somebody else. You can do this up to two hours before it starts — after that, message your teacher instead, because they have set that time aside for you.

Your parent can also book for you, and cancel, from their own portal.

Grades shows your marks and any teacher comments. Attendance shows the register. Both are visible to your parent as well.

Each piece of work appears once, showing the mark that counts. Where you attempted it more than once it says which attempt that was — attempt 2 of 3 — and opening the assessment shows all of them.

If you enrolled yourself, My fees on your home page shows your invoices: what each one is made of, any discount or bursary the school has given, what you have paid, and the balance. Where the school has card or EcoCash payment switched on, you can pay from that page and the payment appears in your history.

If you are at school and your parent enrolled you, this is not your worry — you will not see a fees page at all. Your parent’s portal has the bill.

Lesson notes and your timetable can be saved to your phone and read with no connection at all. Work you submit while offline is queued and sent when you are back online.

Signing out removes everything saved on that device — worth knowing if you are borrowing a phone.

Data saver turns off photographs and downloaded fonts. Videos never load until you tap them.
