Help

For parents and guardians

Everything you can do from your own account, in the order you will usually need it.

Applying for a place

Start at Apply. You will be asked for your name and email, your child's name and date of birth, and which programme and year group you are applying for. The year group is required — it is what the school decides with.

You also choose how your child will attend: online, campus as a day pupil, or campus boarding. This sets the fee, so choose the one you mean — boarding is all-inclusive rather than an extra on top of the day fee. If you change your mind later the office can move your child; ask them rather than applying again.

Applying takes a few minutes. We deliberately do not ask for medical or address details at this stage: those come later, and only if a place is offered.

If the school sets your account up for you

You may be invited rather than registering yourself — the office can add you as a guardian from your child's record. You are emailed a link, you choose your own password, and you are connected to your child straight away. Nobody at the school ever sees that password.

What you can then see is your child's whole record — timetable, marks, attendance, the health and consent details the school holds, and fees. The school does not offer a way to give a guardian only part of it, so if there is somebody who should not see all of that, ask the office not to link them.

Creating your account

Choose Create account in the top bar. Register with the same email address you used to apply and your application will be linked to you automatically.

You must confirm your email before you can sign in — click the link we send. If it has expired, use send me a new link.

Accepting a place

When a place is offered you are emailed. You do not need an account to accept it. The email has a button that accepts the place in one tap — no password, and almost no data.

That link is just for you, so please do not forward it. It works once, and stops working after 30 days; if it has expired, telephone the school and they will send a new one. You can also simply tell the office by telephone and they will record it for you.

If you would rather use the parent portal, create an account with the same email address you applied with — the offer only appears against that address. Your applications then live under My account → Applications.

After an offer: the details we ask for

Your applications live under My account → Applications(they used to sit in the parent portal; old links still work). Once a place is offered, that page shows Complete enrolment details. This asks for an emergency contact, who else may collect your child, allergies and medical conditions, any learning support needs, your address, and your permissions for photographs, trips and emergency treatment.

We ask now so nobody is looking for it in a hurry. You can change any of it later from the same page, and an unticked permission is treated as “no” — never as “not asked yet”.

If it says “waitlisted”, the year group is full just now and we are holding your application. We do not email about the waiting list, so that page is where to look; it will say plainly that nothing is expected from you and that you need not apply again. If a place comes up, we will be in touch.

If your child is boarding you will also be asked about dietary needs, a local guardian in Zimbabwe, and where they go in the holidays. Your child will only ever be released to you or to somebody you have named.

Which subjects your child will take

For some year groups the application form asks which subjects you want — one-to-one tutoring is the clear case, where a pupil takes one subject rather than sixty. Tick what you would like; the school confirms the final list when the place is offered, so it is a request rather than the last word.

Everywhere else the school decides the subject list when it enrols your child, from the subjects taught at their year group. For most year groups that is all of them; where there is a choice to make — A-Level and O-Level combinations — the office sets it then.

Most fees are for the year group, so a pupil taking three subjects is usually billed the same as one taking nine. The school can also price a particular subject separately, and one-to-one tutoring is charged on top of ordinary classes — your bill lists every charge, so you can always see what makes up the total.

If the list is wrong, tell the office and they can add or remove a subject afterwards — nothing is lost by getting it wrong the first time.

Your child's login

From your parent home page you can create your child's account and set their first password, and reset it whenever they forget. Their sign-in address ends in @students.tgii.example — it is something to type into a login box, not a mailbox. No email is ever sent to a child.

If your child cannot sign in

Almost always one of four things, in the order worth checking:

The address is being mistyped. It is not an email address they have used before, and the ending is easy to get wrong. Your parent home page shows it under your child's name as Signs in as — copy it from there rather than from memory. If it is not shown, the office can tell you.

They have forgotten the password. Reset it from your parent home page — you set it, so you can change it, and nothing needs to go through the school.

They are waiting for a confirmation email that will never come. A child's account needs no confirming, because there is no mailbox to confirm. If they are sitting on that screen, they are on the wrong one.

The account has not been created yet. Enrolment creates it; if the place is offered but not yet enrolled, there is nothing to sign in to. Your applications page will say where things stand.

They have been told there are too many sign-in attempts. That is the school protecting the account from somebody guessing at it, and it is temporary — wait a while and try again, or reset the password from your parent home page, which works straight away.

If none of those, tell the office. They cannot see the password — nobody can — but they can see whether the account exists and is active.

Timetable, marks, reports and attendance

Your parent portal shows your child's timetable, grades, report cards and attendance. Report cards appear only once the school has published them — a teacher's working draft is not something you should see half-finished.

A report card is wide, because it has a column for every subject. On a phone the marks table scrolls sideways inside the card — the rest of the page stays still. Nothing is cut off; swipe the table itself. On a computer, or with the Print button, the whole thing is visible at once.

Each piece of work appears once, showing the mark that counts. Where a teacher allowed more than one attempt it says which one that was — attempt 2 of 3. For a quiz it is your child's best attempt; for work a teacher marks by hand, it is the most recent one they marked.

Booking one-to-one tutoring

  1. Press Book tutoring on your home page.
  2. Under Available slots, press the button with your child's name on the time you want.

The booking appears under Booked sessions with a Join link, and in your child's timetable beside their classes, marked One-to-one. You are both reminded the evening before and an hour before. Either of you can press Cancel booking up to two hours beforehand, which puts the time back on the board for another family.

If there are no slots, nobody has opened any yet. Teachers publish the times they are free, so an empty list means ask the office rather than that something is broken.

If a lesson changes

If a lesson is cancelled or moved you are emailed straight away — a move tells you the old time and the new one. Your timetable always shows the current time.

Fees, and how to pay one

Fees lists every invoice with each charge on it, what has been paid and what is outstanding. Fees are charged per term, and an invoice is emailed to you as soon as it is raised.

A bill can change after it is sent. If your child takes something up part-way through a term — one-to-one tutoring, most often — the charge is added to that term's bill rather than arriving as a second one, and you are emailed to say what was added. The new charge appears in the list on the invoice, so you can see exactly what it is.

Paying is done with the school office, not on this site. Cash at the office, a bank transfer or EcoCash — whichever the school has agreed with you. Quote the bill's reference — it looks like INV-2026-0001 and sits beside your child's name on the Fees page — so the money is matched to the right child and term.

A reduction shows on the bill that got it. If the school gives you a discount or a bursary, or writes off a balance, it appears in the list of charges with the reason, and the total is already lower. You do not have to work out why the figure changed.

A payment can be undone. If the office recorded something in error — against the wrong child, or twice — they can reverse it. The payment stays in your history marked reversed with the reason, so nothing you were told simply disappears, and the balance goes back to what is genuinely owed. If a reversal looks wrong to you, ask the office.

A bill can be withdrawn. A bill raised in error is marked cancelled with the reason, and nothing is owed on it. It stays on your Fees page rather than vanishing, so your own records still match the school's.

The office records what they receive, and your Fees page updates. A part payment is fine: the invoice shows the balance remaining rather than staying stubbornly unpaid. If you have paid and the page still shows the full amount, the office has not entered it yet — ask them, rather than paying again. If a balance appears on a bill you had settled, read the charges listed on it: something has been added, and you will have had an email saying what.

Messages and announcements

Messages is a direct line to your child's teachers and the school office. Announcements carries notices the school sends to everyone or to your child's year.

Email you receive, and turning it down

Under My account → Notifications you can set each kind of message to arrive immediately, once a day as a digest, or not at all. Fee notices and admissions decisions cannot be switched off entirely — they are the two things you would be sorry to miss.

Lesson reminders arrive the evening before and about an hour before. If you set that category to a daily digest we will not send them at all, because a reminder that arrives after the lesson is worse than none.

Changing your own password

My account → Password. You will be asked for your current one first, so that somebody picking up your unlocked phone cannot take the account. If you have forgotten it, use forgot password from the sign-in page.

Changing a password you know and setting one you have lost are two different doors. The first always asks for the current password. Only the link we email you can set a password without it — which is why, if you open that page without coming from a link, we take you to My account → Password instead. Nothing is broken when that happens; it is the same rule that stops whoever is holding your unlocked phone from taking the account in one step.

Using less mobile data

Data saver switches off photographs and downloaded fonts. It belongs to the device rather than your account, so you can turn it on before you sign in.

What this does not do yet

You cannot pay online yet. Invoices are shown and tracked, but the card and mobile-money links are not live — pay the school office as usual and they will record it.

We do not send SMS or WhatsApp, only email. If your email address changes, tell the office.

Only one lesson at a time can be moved. If a whole weekly class shifts, each week is moved separately, so you may get more than one message.

Still stuck? Ask a person.

Nothing here replaces the school office. Get in touch and somebody will help.
